THE OLD WHIG: OR THE CONSISTENT PROTESTANT, London, April 28, 1737  Page 2 has an items concerning a pirate: "...that the 'Child', Capt. Cowart...founder'd at sea & the ship, cargo, and crew were all lost. And that the 'Severn', Capt. Parker, another of the said ships, was taken by Angria the Pirate with a valuable cargo & the whole crew made slaves. And that Capt. Anselme...taken by him was still in his possession & would not be releas'd without a free pardon from the Crown of England..." (see).
Page 3 has a brief bit of news from the Carolinas concerning inhabitants being in a "...posture of defence, the forts being repaired & all the arms & ammunition so dispos'd as to be able to defend them in case of invasion...".
Four pages, 9 3/4 by 12 3/4 inches, never-trimmed, wide margins, great condition.
