The controversial Victoria Woodhull libel case..

Item # 614573

March 12, 1874

NEW YORK TIMES, March 12, 1874  Page 2 has a report headed: "The Challis-Woodhull Libel" "Seventh Day of the Trial--Argument for the Defense--Address of Mr. Brooke" which is concerning the libel trial based on an article on her newspaper (see this hyperlink for more). This is the famed Victoria Woodhull, who along with Tennie Claflin published the controversial newspaper "Woodhull & Claflin's Weekly".
Eight pages, browned at the margins, loose at the spine with several margin tears. The issue does have an archival mend to the reverse page of the report, but is not noticeable, and is not near the report even from the reverse side. Should be handled carefully.
