ST. LOUIS GLOBE-DEMOCRAT, Missouri, August 17, 1883

* Oakland, Mississippi
* Yalobusha County
* Negro lynching - hanging

This uncommon Midwestern title has news of the day with many advertisements. The front page has an article headed: "A MISSISSIPPI LYNCHING" "Joe Payne, a Colored Murderer, Hanged by Indigent Citizens"
This issue is not fragile as newsprint back then was made of cotton and linen rags, allowing them to remain very pliable and easy to handle. Complete in 10 pages, minor irregularity along the spine, very nice condition.
