March 15, 1774

THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, March 15, 1774

* Prelude to the Revolutionary War
* Original reporting from the enemy

The entire front page is taken up with: "Substance of the American Papers read before the House of Commons..." which essentially summarizes the political relations with the colonies within the past year. Some interesting reading, which ends with Gov. Hutchinson stating:: "...it is Parliament and Parliament only which can restore that turbulent country to peace & bring order out of confusion...". An inside page has half of its space taken up with an item headed: "Province of Massachusetts Bay, June 29, 1773" which begins: "The re-establishment of the union & harmony that formerly subsisted between Great Britain & her colonies is earnestly to be wished by the friends of both..." with much more (see).
The back page has a summary of proceedings in the House of Commons which includes various items concerning America such as: "...among other measures proper to be pursued, that the navigation of the port of Boston should be stopped till the inhabitants were brought to a proper sense of their duty..." with much more.
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 in., some foxing, generally good. A red tax stamp at the bottom of pg. 2.
