ST. LOUIS GLOBE-DEMOCRAT, May 10, 1883

* Dodge City KS Kansas War
* "Get out of Dodge" fame
* Luke Short

Page 6 has more than a column taken up with terrific content on the famous Dodge City War, with heads: "A REIGN OF TERROR" "Dodge City, Kan., In Possession of a Mob of Vigilantes" "the Late City Election the Origin of the Troubles" "A Candidate Imported to Run for Mayor & a Train-Load of Voters Brought in to Elect Him--The Opposing Party Driven Out at the Muzzle of Revolvers". The content is terrific and is definitive of the phrase "Old West" and includes the arrest of famed gunfighter Luke Short, who was friends with Bat Masterson & Wyatt Earp (see hyperlink).
The Dodge City War was the origin of the now-popular phrase "get outta Dodge" and this report even includes similar text: "...We won't give you a trial, but you have got to leave town to-morrow, and you can't come back. If you do come back you will be killed...".
A truly terrific newspaper reporting on the wild Old West. Twelve pages, very nice condition.
