THE EDINBURGH ADVERTISER, Scotland, Dec. 15, 1780

* American Revolutionary War

The front page has a column-long editorial concerning the Revolutionary War, with some interesting thoughts. It begins: "The  campaign in America for the present year being nearly at an end..." the writer considers what has been accomplished in the previous 12 months, with much criticism of the American "ally" in France, noting: "...the aid given to the revolted colonies by France will in all probability accelerate their return to a friendly & honourable connextion with the mother country..." with much more.
Page 3 has a letter from New York which includes: "We have lately made great havock with the rebel frigates & privateers. The whole Congressional navy consists now of no more than four frigates. Washington is near Hackensack...& his whole force now amounts to about 6000 men..." with more, including: "...from Virginia asserts that the people in that province are universally disgusted with the tyranny of Congress & desirous of a reconciliation with the mother country..." with more (see).
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches, nice condition.
