THE EDINBURGH ADVERTISER, Scotland, Oct. 27, 1780

* General William Howe
* Gen. Charles Cornwallis

Page 2 has some nice content concerning the Revolutionary War taking most of the page, bits including: "When Lord Cornwallis was come up with the rebels he resolved to fight them as soon as it was light...General Howe, after his forced march of 18 miles in 16 days, stood still 3 days more within cannon shot of the enemy...Lord Cornwallis, with a very inferior army, resolved to fight the rebels rather than forfeit all pretensions to future confidence from the friendly Americans...General Howe...persuaded the rebels to quit their camp at White Plains, he triumphs in his possession of the dirt they had trod on...General Howe...would persuade us that the war in America was impracticable because it has woods & swamps in it. General Cornwallis turns those woods & swamps to advantage..." with much more on the war including: "...that Gen. Gates & several of the principal leading men in...Carolina have offered to surrender to Earl Cornwallis upon condition of receiving a free pardon..." (see).
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches, minor fold foxing to the ftpg., very nice condition.
