April 06, 1865

CHICAGO TRIBUNE, April 6, 1865  The front page has some notable column headlines on the closing moments of the Civil War with: "FROM RICHMOND" "Sheridan Close Upon Lee's Heels" "Grant Confident of Capturing or Destroying Lee's Army" "Complete Details of the Occupation" "Lee's Entire Loss About 45,000" "The Great Victory" and more. Page 2 has: "The Capture of Richmond" "The Splendid Charge of General Wright's Corps".
As evidence that crass commercialization is nothing new, see the ftpg. ad by a store headed: "Fall of Richmond!"
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, large folio size, margin tears at the right side, minor fold wear.
