This is one of the earliest newspapers we have offered from California, keeping in mind that the very first newspaper in the state was printed in 1846. This is the vol. 1 number 17 issue of a title of which scattered issues are held by just 5 institution, none having any issues prior to December, 1851. Various content and many ads, many having a mining theme.
Four pages, a bit irregular at the spine, old library reinforcement at the bottom margin of pgs. 2 & 4, generally in nice condition.
