RAILROAD JOURNAL, New York, Nov. 17, 1832
* Very early & rare railroad periodical
* Trains - locomotives
This is a very early issue--a volume one issue--of the very first American periodical on railroading. The best feature of this newspaper is the great and very early engraving of a railroad car in the masthead. They actually used 4 or 5 different engravings in the first year, and I believe this issue has an engraving not used on any other issue. Note the similarity to the stage coach design of the day.
There are railroad-related articles but there is also other news of the day including a report which begins: "Charles Carroll of Carrollton is dead--the last of the Signers..." (see).
Complete in 16 pages, 9 by 12 inches and in great condition.
