DREWRY'S DERBY MERCURY, England, Jan. 23, 1783
* American Revolutionary War ending
* Working on a agreeable peace solution
The front page has a report noting in part: "...letters came from America...great apprehensions were entertained of the capture of the troops coming from Charles-Town; but we hear from good authority that the troops had not then embarked...said to have sailed, contained the Loyalists only who wished to retire from thence. The Americans are by no means satisfied with the Declaration of their Independence as proposed by the English Ministry. This extends only to the Thirteen Colonies, whereas Congress strongly contend that Canada should be included, to which Spain puts a strong negative, & the adjustment of this point is at present one of the greatest obstacles to a peace." (see).
Four pages, folio size, red tax stamp on the front page, nice condition.
