For the model railroad hobbyist this genuine issue of Scientific American contains a very significant advertisement, being an illustrated ad for "Carlisle & Finch Co." of Cincinnati, Ohio. The ad is for their toy "Electric Railways, $3.50 to $7."

Carlisle & Finch was the creator of the very first electric toy train. It was created in 1894, making this a very early advertisement for this significant development in the world of model railroading.

This issue is complete in 16 pages, measures about 11 by 16 inches, and is in nice condition. The mentioned ad measures a bit less than 1 by 2 1/2 inches.
