This was a strongly Tory newspaper which began in 1775 and closed shop in May of 1778 when the British evacuated Philadelphia.
The top of page 2 has a nice item from Congress offering pardon to deserters from the military, prefaced with an interesting note signed by "Bombasticus", the document reads in part: "Whereas persuasion & influence, the example of the deluded or wicked...have induced some of the subjects of these states to join, aid or abet the British...now desirous of returning to their duty...anxiously wishing to be received & reunited to their country, may be deterred by the fear of punishment...Resolved...offering pardon...to forgive & bury in oblivion their past failings & transgressions." with much more (see), signed in type: Charles Thomson. Also on page 2 is a report of action in the Phila. vicinity (see).
Over half of the back page is taken up with a: "Draught of a BILL for Declaring the Intentions of the Parliament...Concerning the Exercise of the Right of Imposing Taxes within his Majesty's Colonies...in North America" as well as a: "Draught of a BILL to Enable his Majesty to appointing Commissioners with...Powers to ...Consult & Agree upon the Means of Quieting the Disorders now Subsisting in certain of the Colonies...of North America." (see).
Four pages, light damp stain in the bottom quadrant, numeric notations next to ads (this was the editor's copy), generally nice.
