BROUGHTON'S MONTHLY PLANET READER & ASTROLOGICAL JOURNAL, Philadelphia, Oct. Nov. & Dec., 1864

* Uncommon title - Abraham Lincoln
* Astrology - Horoscope

A fascinating and very unusual newspaper of small-size, themed on predicting what would happen in the future as well as astrology and phrenology. The "science" of phrenology believed that a person's intelligence & personality were a factor of the shape of their skull.
The ftpg. features an illustration of a beardless Abraham Lincoln, with the entire front page taken up with: "The Nativity of Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States" which carries over to take half of page 2. It is interesting that the "predictions" for Lincoln, as noted on page 2, including: "...But I might here state that shortly after the election is over, Mr. Lincoln will have a number of evil aspects afflicting his Nativity...they will be in operation in Nov. and Dec. of this year. During these months, let him be especially on his guard against attempts to take his life; by such as fire arms, and infernal machines...". Although the timing was off, unfortunately the prediction would prove to be true. Also proving true was: "...But after all there is one comfort, & that is: Mr. Lister agrees with me in predicting that Mr. Lincoln will be our next President."
Page 2 also has: "The Nativity of Gen. Geo. B. McClellan" with a print of him (see). And page 4 has: "The Nativity of Gen. John C. Fremont" with a print of him.
Four pages plus the broadsheet, 5 3/4 by 9 inches, a bit irregular at the spine, nice condition.
