January 20, 1863

LOUISVILLE DAILY JOURNAL, Kentucky, Jan. 20, 1863   Louisville is difficult to categorize as Union or Confederate during the Civil War as, depending on the time, there were factions within the city supporting both. To placate both sides the two leading newspapers took their stands: the "Courier" was very much pro-Confederate & the "Journal" was more pro-Union. This is the Yankee-leaning newspaper.
Articles include: "Army & Navy to be Paid Forthwith" "The Alabama Off the Coast of Cuba" "More Intercepted Rebel Letters" "The Rebel Army Refuses to Offer Battle" and much more.
Four pages, large folio size, never bound nor trimmed, various folds, wear at margins with some archival mends, and other margin & fold tears.
