* Mormons - Mormonism
Near the bottom of the front page is a report; "The Temple at Nauvoo" which had to be abandoned by the Mormons when they were chased out of town. They attempted to sell the temple but ultimately leased it to the Home Mission Society. The article notes in part: "...an arrangement has been made with the trustees or those having charge of the Mormon Temple at Nauvoo by which that splendid edifice is to be devoted to a useful purpose..." (see). In October it would be mostly destroyed by a fire, to be rebuilt in 2002.
Also on the front page: "A Skirmish On the Western Plains" and: 'From Gen. Taylor" among other items.
Four pages, very nice condition.
