August 31, 1891

THE SUN, Colorado Springs, Aug. 31, 1891  This is the volume 1, number 16 issue of a newspaper which lasted for just 2 1/2 years. Plus Gregory (Union List of American Newspapers) records only one institution as having any issues and we purchased all the holdings from them. Obviously printed on a small amateur press as it is of very small size, measuring just 4 1/2 by 5 3/4 inches. They note in the masthead: "The smallest regular established News Paper printed in America." which I suspect it was.
Four pages plus it has a single sheet broadside advertising leaf for the sale of 3 horses. Archivally rejoined at the spine, some loss of blank paper at the spine, evenly toned & some minor margin tears. It is slightly fragile so should be handled carefully.
