EVENING HERALD--EXTRA, Los Angeles, California, March 31, 1931
* Knute Rockne death (1st report)
* Notre Dame head football coach
* Great headline for display
The bold banner headline announces: "KNUTE ROCKNE KILLED IN CRASH OF AIRPLANE" with a subhead: "8 Die As Big Craft Blows Up In Air On Flight To L.A." with a photo of him headed: "Rockne, 'Grid Wizard', Killed". This is one of better headlines I've seen on this particular event. Nice also that this newspaper is dated the day he died, as many reports were dated April 1.
The complete first section (of 2) with pages 1-20. Various margin tears, otherwise nice.
