March 03, 1877

IROQUOIS COUNTY TIMES, Watseka, Illinois, Dec. 2, 1876
The top of page 4 has: "Tilden Defeated" which is the latest report on this very contentious election of 1876, as an earlier issue of this title announced that Samuel Tilden had won the presidential election. this report begins: "The president of the senate shall in the presence of the Senate & house of representatives, open all certificates and the (electoral) votes shall then be counted; the person having the greatest number of votes for president shall be the president..." with more (see).
Eight pages, never bound nor trimmed, some dirtiness to the front page, minor margin & fold wear, and a small item clipped from the front leaf not remotely close to the mentioned content.
