Over six pages are taken up with: "Neglected Documents - Captured Slaves" (see for portions). This lengthy item, including several correspondences, concerning the kidnapping by the British of Virginia slaves from during the War of 1812.
Also within this issue are articles headed: 'Indian Prophet" which begins: "Died, at Onondago Castle, one of the chiefs of the Alleghenies, well known through this county as the Indian Prophet...". Also: "The Steam Engine" "Kentucky Mummy" and more.
Measures 6 by 9 1/2 inches, 24 pages, some light foxing, nice condition.

This small size newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
