February 22, 1965

LOS ANGELES TIMES, February 22, 1965  This is a very rare issue with an uncommonly dramatic front page reporting of the death of Malcolm X, the two-line banner head noting: "MALCOLM X GUNNED DOWN". This is a very difficult newspaper to find as most institutions were not holding hard-copy newspapers at this time (typically went directly to microfilm) and loose issues of this event were rarely saved.
The subhead notes: "Slain From Ambush at New  York Rally; Suspects Arrested" plus two related front page photos (see). The article carries over to page 11 then to page 20.
The complete first section (of 5) with pages 1-30. Very nice condition. Note: the foxing at the fold & margins is more pronounced in the photo than in actuality.
