THE OREGON STATESMAN, Salem, January 23, 1855 This is one of the earliest newspapers we have offered from Oregon, and four years before it would become a state. Note "Oregon Territory" printed in the dateline.
A four page issue with a wide variety of content including many advertisements, several of which are illustrated. Among the articles are those headed: "Democratic Territorial Convention" "Constitution making -- The Latest Plan" and other items.
Complete in four pages, little fold rubbing, minor foxing, generally in nice condition. A rare issue from territorial Oregon.
