NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Feb. 22, 1834

Inside contains: "Anonymous Letters!" which contains several concerning the assassination plot against President Jackson, one beginning: "This is to inform you that I, one of a number of young men of this city who have conspired your death, unknown to my colleagues, write this to warm you of this plot..." and another includes: "I am very sorry tin inform you that if the deposits are not replaced & the bank of the United States is not rechartered, by the 4th of March next you will be a dead man..." and yet another: "...feels it his duty to apprize you that it is seriously contemplated by a few individuals in this city to adopt measures for the diabolical purpose of ASSASSINATING the venerable chief magistrate of our union."
All of this concerning the chartering of the Bank of the United States, and many considered the plot to have been fabricated.

Sixteen pages, 6 by 9 1/2 inches, bit of minor foxing, nice condition.

This small size newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
