April 07, 1862

THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, April 7, 1862  The front page has many Civil War one column headlines including: "The Rebels Outwitted by Col. Geary" "The Rebels Outflanked at Corinth, Miss." "The Yankees Landed at Biloxi" "Bombarding Island No. 10" "Later From New Bern" "The Steamer Merrimac" "A Fight Going on at Yorktown" & more (see).
But the prime feature of this issue is the huge ftpg. map with uncommonly large headlines reading: "SEAT OF WAR IN NORTHEASTERN VIRGINIA--A Map Showing the Locations Occupied by Major-General Banks' Command--Also, the Scene of the late Successful Manoeuvre of Colonel Geary" showing from Baltimore to Martinsburg to Charlottesville to Fredericksburg & much in between.
Eight pages, close-trimmed at the spine margin touches the first letter in some lines but no loss of text, nearly close-trimmed at the bottom but not loss to ftpg. text but some loss to the bottom of pages 3 & 6 text. Some toning to the top quadrant.
