September 01, 1783

THE POLITICAL MAGAZINE & PARLIAMENTARY, NAVAL, MILITARY, AND LITERARY JOURNAL, London, Sept., 1783  Certainly one of the more scarce titles from the 18th century magazine press. The first several pages deal with the: "Definitive Treaties of Peace with France & Spain, & Preliminary Articles with the Dutch" which includes various correspondences. Included is a notable one from London: "Yesterday...arrived with the Definitive Treaty between his Majesty & the United States of America, which was signed at Paris the 3rd instant by him, as his Majesty's Plenipotentiary, and by the Plenipotentiaries of the United States." The treaties involving the Dutch, Spain & France were all part of the negotiations which ended the Revolutionary War.
Also inside are: "Maryland Resolves" "Abstract of the Act for Inquiring into the Losses of the Loyalists" "Act of the General Assembly of the State of Maryland" "Account of Robbing the French Treasury at Wilmington", Delaware; "Advices Respecting the Commercial Treaty with America" and near the back is various: "American Intelligence" (see).
As if all the end-of-war content was not sufficient, included also is a great account of the very first launch of a hydrogen balloon in Paris, headed: "Balloon; or Air Globe" & with other balloon flight content, taking over 2 pages. And near the back is another; "Experiment of the Air Balloon".
Complete in 80 pages, lacking the map called for, 5 by 8 1/4 inches, some foxing to the first several leaves, generally very nice condition.
