PENNSYLVANIA PACKET & DAILY ADVERTISER, Philadelphia, Dec. 17, 1788

* re. United States Constitution

Page 2 has an interesting editorial from Newport, Rhode Island, concerning its situation and its non-involvement in the process of creating & ratifying the Constitution. It ends with: "...At an era so important as the present, when all the evils attendant on a separation from a union with our sister states hang over our heads, it is our duty to pursue this plan of information in hopes that the people will consider the things that belong to their peace before it is too late."
Page 3 has a report from North Carolina concerning its efforts to ratify the Constitution, including: "...A great many of the counties have petitioned...for a new convention to reconsider & ratify the constitution on the part of this state. The anti-federalists are still numerous & very many of them callous to reason...the opposition will run high...If we cannot have a new convention, anarchy will most probably be the consequence."
Four pages, never-trimmed margins, great condition.
