PERFECT DIURNALL OF SOME PASSAGES & PROCEEDINGS OF & IN RELATION TO THE ARMIES IN ENGLAND, IRELAND, & SCOTLAND, London, June 31, 1650   A fascinating "newsbook" (predecessors to today's newspapers) from the English Civil War. And this issue has some very good content concerning Lord Fairfax and the English Civil War. Inside has: "Whereas by Ordianance of Parliament, Thomas Lord Fairfax...was constituted and ordained Commander in chiefe of all the forces in the said Ordinance appointed to be raised. And whereas by act of this present Parliament the said Thomas Lord Fairfax was constituted & appointed Captain said Ordinance Generall and Commander in chiefe of the Armies & forces raised and to be raised by authority of Parliament, within the Commonwealth of England, both which commissions were upon the 26 day of June 1650 surrendered and delivered up to the Parliament..." with more (see). This is followed by: "An Act constituting and appointing Oliver Cromwell Esquire, to be Captaine Generall, and Commander in cheife of all the forces raised and to be raised by authority of Parliament within the Common-wealth of England was this day passed." (see).
Much more content concerning Parliament & events in England, as well as much reporting from elsewhere in Europe as well.
