THE PENNSYLVANIA GAZETTE, Philadelphia, Aug. 10, 1774

* Quebec Act - Intolerable Acts
* Pre Revolutionary War tensions

This is the newspaper previously owned & printed by Ben Franklin, his name appearing in the imprint through 1765. A page 3 item from "Whitehall" states: "The King has been pleased to appoint Thomas Oliver, Esq; to be Lieut-Governor of the province of Massachusetts-Bay, in America, in the room of Andrew Oliver, deceased." Under "Philadelphia" is a report that states: "We are informed by authority, that the honourable the Representatives of the government of the counties of New-Castle, Kent and Sussex, upon Delaware, met at New-Castle on the first instant...when they unanimously appointed Caesar Rodney, Thomas M'Kean, and George Read, Esquires, or any two of them, deputies for the said colony at the ensuing Congress." (see)
Page 2 has content on the debate in the House of Commons on the Quebec Bill, which was one of the Intolerable Acts. Very lengthy discussion on the Quebec Bill continues to take much of page 3, with one section headed: "Continuation of the Account of the Proceedings in the House of Commons on the Bill for making Better Provision for the Government of Quebec."
Four pages, handsome engraving of the Penna. coat-of-arms in the masthead, very nice, clean condition.
