THE PRESS, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, April 12, 1866 The back page of this contains the headline "MURDER" with subheads "The First Ward the Scene of a Horrible Butchery -- A whole Family, consisting of Eight Persons, Murdered", "Seven Bodies found in a State of Decomposition -- The other Still Missing", "A Terrible and heart-rending Sight -- The Victims Chopped to Death with an Axe", "the Dwelling Ransacked and Robbed -- Starving Horses and Cattle Discovered in the Stable". The text takes up 1 1/2 columns.
This tells of the Murder of the Dearing family by Anton Probst. Of course, this would be one the best titles to have this in being from the city where it happened.
Other news of the day about one year after the Civil war. Complete in 8 page, minor spine wear, nice condition.

This was proven by a man named Anton Probst in that year when, for a few dollars, he committed a massacre that shocked the city of Philadelphia, and the entire nation, with its brutality.
