June 26, 1781

THE PENNSYLVANIA PACKET OR, THE GENERAL ADVERTISER, Philadelphia, June 26, 1781  The photo shows the nice masthead of this title from the Revolutionary War period, the main feature being the very ornate lettering in the title.
Taking much of the front and second pages is a report from the Amsterdam Gazette about the counter Manifesto of the United Provinces to the Manifesto of the court of London.
An unusual feature of this issue is a notice headed: "Two Half Joes Reward" which vertically appears in the outer margin on pg. 3. Either this was a last minute addition or, they miscalculated the amount of space needed for the content in the initial layout.
This issue also contains an ad by Rebecca Young who was a noteworthy seamstress for the Continental Army, and who was the mother of Mary Pickersgill, who sewed the flag flown at Fort McHenry which inspired Francis Scott Key to pen the words of the Star Spangled Banner.
The front page has a bit of rubbing in the mentioned text, has a few traces of foxing, otherwise in very good, untrimmed condition.
