The battle of Cerro Gordo... Early from Florida...

Item # 602088

May 8, 1847

THE FLORIDIAN & JOURNAL, Tallahassee, Florida, May 8, 1847

* Mexican-American War
* Battle of Cerro Gordo
* Rare title

A nice & rare opportunity for a very early newspaper from the capital of Florida. Very rarely are we able to find antebellum Florida newspapers, particularly from the capital. This issue has Mexican War content on pages 1 and 2 including: "Later From Vera Cruz" which includes several letters including one signed in type: Winfield Scott; "Another Glorious Victory" "Battle Of Cerro Gordo" "Santa Anna Again Defeated..." (see) with over half of page 2 taken up with this content.
Four pages, a bit irregular at the spine, scattered foxing, generally good.
