As noted in the masthead this was the: "Gazette of The Regular & Volunteer Forces" and as such is replete with military news of all sorts.
The entire front page is taken up with a review of: "The Military Situation", and articles within include: "The Monitors" "Artillery In the United States Army" "Official Dispatches--Operations in Middle Tennessee" "Fortification--Harbor Defences" "Life In A Barrack" "Army Personal" "Downfall of the Great Rebellion" "Wrought Iron Gun Carriages" "Launch of the Iron-Clad Tecumseh" and so much more, including official dispatches signed in type by General Burnside & others. Also: "A Proclamation--Suspension of the Writ of Habeas Corpus in Certain Cases, by the President of the United States" which is signed in type: Abraham Lincoln.
