The top of page 5 has: "Washington" "Frederick Douglass in Possession of His Commission" "Southern Senators Seeking Offices for Friends" with the report noting: "United States Marshal Fred Douglass, at the State Department today received his commission. He was the object of very great attention from the crowd visiting the department..." (see).
The front page has an article headed: "New Bonanza" "Reported Discovery of a New Mine" near the Comstock Lode.
Eight pages, very nice condition.
