NILES' NATIONAL REGISTER, Baltimore, Maryland, November 21, 1840

* The new coin (Gobrecht Dollar?)
* Mormon conference
* Much on the abolition of slavery

This issue contains coverage on the recent Presidential Election between Harrison and Van Buren, still awaiting all the votes to be received. Inside is a portion of the lengthy "Speech of W. C. Johnson, of MD. on the Subject of the Rejection of Petitions for the Abolition of Slavery." Also within his speech is a reference (on pages 185 & 186) to an early woman's anti-slavery convention, with a footnote of a letter containing the adopted resolutions of the conference (nice early suffrage content). A small item discusses the minting a new coin - which is likely reference to the Gobrecht Dollar (see http://uspatterns.com/newdasuretho.html). Yet another item (back page) gives details of a Mormon conference held in Nauvoo (see last image).

Complete in 16 pages and in nice condition.
