CHARLESTON DAILY COURIER, South Carolina, Feb. 16, 1863  This is one of just a few newspapers which printed: "Confederate States Of America" in the dateline (see). The front page has: "Indiana, Illinois and Ohio to Meet In Convention--the War to Cease at All Hazards, etc." "From Vicksburg--Active Movements of the Enemy" "From Fredericksburg, Va. - Latest Northern News". Page 2 has: "The Yankees in Memphis" "Memphis Intelligence" "The Federal in Missouri" "The Northwestern States--Good News if True" and also a "Proclamation" signed in type by: G. T. Beauregard.
The back page includes: "The Situation" "The Galveston Affair--Official Statement of the Capture of the Hatteras by the Alabama" "The Second Fight at Fort Donelson" "Southern View of American Affairs" "Later from the North". There is also a brief "Resolve" which is signed in type: Jefferson Davis (see).
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, nice condition.
