DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, April 2, 1862 A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederate States of America. Page 2 has a lengthy editorial touching on several topics of the Civil War, one paragraph beginning: "Flags of truce are suspended at Norfolk and all the channels of intelligence broken up with the enemy..." and elsewhere: "It was doubtless the enemy's intention at first to combine with a march upon Richmond under Wool on one side of the James, and under Burnside on the other...The performances of the Merrimac seem to have disturbed that plan for some time...The plan of the enemy to strike at Richmond by a combined movement through Fredericksburg and up the peninsula is certainly a sensible one..." and much more.
