The front page has one column headlines on the front page: "SULLIVAN ON TRIAL", "A Jury Secured to Try the Pugilist After Some Delay", "One Prosecuting Witness", "Swears That He Saw the Bruiser Jump on Kilrain, and the Fact That There Was a Fight Will Doubtless be Established". Unusual 1st report coverage on John L. Sullivan being tried of prize fighting. This is regarding the last world heavyweight championship prizefight decided with bare knuckles under London Prize Ring rules in history. This fight was considered one of the greatest fights of the pre-modern era which lasted 76 rounds.
