THE PORT FOLIO, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, March 14, 1801  Edited by Joseph Dennie under the pseudonym "Oliver Oldschool" and Asbury Dickins, it espoused republican values and was the first important political & literary journal in the United States. Has a wide variety of content but an emphasis on literary items. This is the volume 1, number 11 issue.
The frontpage has the 11th of the series of "Journal of a Tour Through Selesia" written by John Quincy Adams.
Eight pages, measures 9 3/4 by 12 3/4 inches, and in excellent condition.
This is the "second edition" but printed prior to April 25 as Mott notes "The paper was a success from the first. Dennie had thought  a printing of 1000 copies would be enough...Dickins insisted on 1500; this liberal allowance was soon exhausted & a second edition called for. By April 25 the regular edition consisted of 2000 copies."
