Inside has: "...have advice of Charles-Town [Charleston] being taken by storm on the 10th of June last...schooner that had left New York six days who gave him an account that Charles-Town had surrendered to the King's forces on the 11th of June." Also: "...In the Maryland new papers it is mentioned that a feu de joye was fired on the 10th of June from the fort at Annapolis & from the ships, on account of the defeat of Gen. Prevost at Charlestown on the 19th of May; but...which left Philadelphia the 28th of June says that the defeat of Prevost did not then gain credit even among the most sanguine Americans...The American newspapers say that the militia had turned out in great numbers at the North River, which obliged Sir Henry Clinton to return below Peek's-Kill on the 4th of June where they were fortifying themselves, & Washington was with his army on the west side of the river near Fish-Kill, & had a number of troops posted on the east side..." with a bit more (see).
