An Episcopal coin...



Item # 598175 THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, October, 1788  This contains an article: "Query on an Episcopal Coin" in which a person had received a coin of which he was providing the description of in hopes that someone would be able to help identify it. "The piece is of pale gold, thin, in size between a sixpence and shilling. On one side is a figure of a bishop... who name (as we learn from the reading on the other side) was St. Mertin... There is no date to the piece, but, if struck for a bishop of Utrecht, it must have been prior to the year 1557...".
Other articles and plates are present, including a: "View of Mr. Greene's Museum at Lichfield".
Complete in 90+ pages, very nice condition.
