EDINBURGH EVENING COURANT, Scotland, June 19, 1779  Page 2 has a report which includes: "...The rebels were growing every day more distressed & more dissatisfied & their leaders more divided. the Congress and the state of Pennsylvania had got into a high quarrel about a prize ship, each claiming it as its right..." and also: "...Butler...was briskly at work on the frontiers; he had destroyed a magazine of provisions above Easton and  laid siege to a fort near Wyoming--300 Continental troops had been ordered to its relief but they were way-laid by the Indians and the whole party was cut off..." and further on: "...Deserters were continually coming in at New York & Lord Rawdon had compleated his corps of 500 men, consisting altogether of Irish deserters from the service of the rebels...the only unfortunate event that had happened was the capture of seven vessels bound from New York to Georgia..." with more (see).
Page 3 has two letters from New York which include: "The commissioners that met for a general exchange of prisoners have returned without being able to accomplish any thing. the rebels were so unreasonable in their demands for the maintenance of General Burgoyne's army...This will probably be the last time our Commander in Chief will be trifled with."
