EDINBURGH EVENING COURANT, Scotland, Dec. 1, 1777

* re. Battle of Saratoga, New York
* General John Burgoyne's defeat
* Reports disputed by the British

There are just a few items relating to the Revolutionary War, including a report: "No ships have arrived from America...since our last, the accounts therefore which are given in some of the newspapers relative to the defeat o General Burgoyne, etc. must be considered as the product of a fertile invention & not of any advice really received." which is reference to the American victory by General Gates over Burgoyne at Saratoga. Also: "When the transports left New York o the 27th of September Major General Jones commanded in that city, General Clinton being gone from thence with a detachment of 4000 men..." (see).
Four pages, folio size, very nice condition.
