THOMAS'S MASSACHUSETTS SPY OR WORCESTER GAZETTE, Sept. 30, 1812
* Surrender of Fort Detroit, Michigan
* General William Hull
* War of 1812
At the bottom of the front page is just the beginning of: "Official Despatches from General Hull" which carries over to pg. 2 where the first is signed: W. Hull. This is followed by another very lengthy letter datelined at Fort George, Aug. 26, 1812, which begins: "Enclosed are the articles of capitulation by which the fort of Detroit has been surrendered to major-general Brock..." and takes nearly 3 columns where it is signed: W. Hull. In 1814 Hull would be found guilty of cowardice & neglect of duty by a court martial.
Page 3 also has some War of 1812 reporting. Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, very nice condition.
