EDINBURGH EVENING COURANT, Scotland, Sept. 20, 1777

* General George Washington
* Rare Revolutionary War title

There are a few mentions of Revolutionary War reports on the front page. Page 2 has more, including: "...just received of the total defeat on the 17th of July of the detachment mentioned by General Burgoyne, to be coming by Lake George, in the following manner:..." followed by the details (see). Further on is: "...news is come from Philadelphia that our troops are in possession of the place; and that 3000 armed Quakers assembled against the rebels to prevent their burning the town...".
Following this half of page 2 is taken up with additional reports on the Revolutionary War, too much to mention here but which are partially shown in the photos.
War reports continue on page 3 which has a letter: "...from Mr. Washington to his Excellency General Sir William Howe..." datelined New Jersey, July 16, 1777. It begins: "The fortune of war having thrown Major General Prescot into our hands, I beg leave to propose his exchange for Major General Lee..." with more, and signed in type: G. Washington (see)
