Page 2 has a few items on the Revolutionary War including: "...advice...of Ticonderoga being in the possession of the King's troops & that Gen. Burgoyne's army was then marching to join Gen. Howe." and: "...that the entire conquest of Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts's Bay is to precede any farther operations towards the south; and that those provinces, as they have been the most obnoxious to government, are to be made to feel the severest chastisement...troops are to proceed to live at large; *& that when an entire conquest is made...grants of the lands are to be made to the conquerors, the present inhabitants who are are a surly, rebellious set of republicans by principle, are to be driven out and a new race of inhabitants to succeed..." with more (see).
Page 3 has over half a column taken up with a very fine account of the American victory at Sag Harbor, New York, which has a prefacing note by General Washington with the letter written by Sam Parsons (see). Much praise is given to Colonel Meigs for the victory (see). This is followed by reports datelined Williamsburg, Albany, Charleston, and New York, the latter noting: "Our affair in this country seem now to be just as bad as they can well be. The rebel Washington plays his game most admirably. Till lately I never thought that the Americans had either common sense or common spirit. I am convinced now they have both..." with a bit more (see).
Four pages, folio size, some period notations in ads & margins, very nice condition.
