Page 2 has: "...is said to be on the consideration of some proposals for accommodating matters with the Americans, said to be received from the Congress by General Howe through the means of General Lee. Among the conditions talked of there is to be a free pardon for Messrs. Hancock and Adams." and: "...by the last mail...packet of letters ...from Dr. Franklin for the Congress...to contain assurances that the court of France are no ways in a temper to break with Great Britain..." and "...Great numbers of the rebels fell in the different skirmishes..." and "The subalterns in the army at New York...are actually obliged to eat the common soldiers' allowance of provisions as it is impossible with their pay to dine at the Sutlers where fresh provisions are so dear...".
Page 3 includes a letter from an officer on the Connecticut expedition which notes: "In our late expedition we had 160 men killed, wounded and missing, but the greatest part of them were slightly wounded...".
Four pages, folio size, period notations in ads & margins, very nice condition.
