EDINBURGH EVENING COURANT, Scotland, May 7, 1777

Page 2 has: "An American Anecdote" taking two-thirds of a column, concerning the French & Indian War (see). Page 2 has several reports concerning the Revolutionary War including: "...an account of Sir Guy Carleton having passed over the lakes on the ice & taking possession of that [Ticonderoga] post, which on his approach had been abandoned by Col. Waine the rebel commander..." and further on: "It is expected that the King's troops in Canada...will soon get into the American provinces..." and "...The rebels at Providence, some time ago made appearance as if they intended to attack us...they report that the force at Boston is very small & that all that could be spared have been sent to reinforce General Washington." and more (see).
Page 3 includes: "Heath, one of the rebel Generals & their chief commander in Westchester, has thrown up his commission in disgust & returned to Boston..." and also a lengthy list of the naval force of the Americans, by name, number of guns, and commanders, one of whom is: John Paul Jones (see).
Page 3 also has letters from General Putnam (brief), a letter from Newport, Rhode Island, one from New York, the latter beginning: "There have been several little skirmishes in which the King's troops have been victorious. General Howe with 40 light horse was attacked by a large body of the rebels & was obliged to fight his way through them sword in hand..." with more (see).
The back page has more concerning America including a letter titled: "A Matter of Fact Relative to the American Taxation".
