The first column is mostly taken up with details of the: "National Inauguration Ball, Without Distinction of Party, to be held on Monday evening, March 5, 1849" and it includes a lengthy list of members of Congress, the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Citizens of Washington & others cities who presumably were either invited or purchased tickets. Included are several quite famous names, not the least of which is "Hon. A. Lincoln, Ill." when he was a member of the House of Representatives. Other notables include Col. R. E. Lee, Col. J.E. Johnston, Philip Barton Key, Lieut.W. D. Porter, Gen. Winfield Scott, Hon. Jefferson Davis, Miss., among others.
Four pages, irregular at the blank spine margins, nice condition.
