February 27, 1793

COLUMBIAN CENTINEL, Boston, February 27, 1793

  Washington's second term election

The top of page 3 has a very historic report on the election of George Washington as President, for his 2nd term: "The votes for President and Vice President of the United States, as ascertained by the two Houses of Congress, are as follows: "George Washington, 132.....Adams, 77; George Clinton, 50; Thomas Jefferson, 4; Aaron Burr, 1. And the two former have been proclaimed President and Vice President for four years commencing the 4th March next." (see)
These were the official results as can be verified online. There is a small piece clipped from this report (see photos) which affects just a few words but does not cause loss of readability. There is another small clip in the bottom half of the leaf which affects an ad.
Four pages, small archival mends at the interior spine, a bit irregular at the spine, untrimmed margins.
