Item # 596261 THE AMERICAN SOCIALIST, Oneida, New York, 1879 A small folio-size newspaper from Oneida, New York. A publication from this early "commune" in experimental living which advocated free love and other quite radical ideas at that time. In the end they disbursed under considerable controversy. Oneida Limited (silverware among other things) finds it origins deep within the historic Oneida Community. Various religiously-themed reports within the issue plus a bit of current news of the day.
Eight pages, never bound nor trimmed so it folds out to one large sheet, in excellent condition.
